How we create change

Therapy model isn't everything. The biggest factors that predict progress in therapy are things like attachment, hope, and consistency. But if you're interested, here's a little more information on the models that I primarily draw from in my clinical work and how they create change:

Integrative Therapy

I combine Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Narrative Therapy because together, they address the complexity of human experience in a comprehensive way. IFS helps clients connect with and heal inner parts of themselves, fostering self-awareness and internal harmony. DBT provides practical tools for emotional regulation, mindfulness, and creating meaningful change. SFBT focuses on identifying strengths and actionable solutions, offering hope and progress even in the face of challenges. Narrative Therapy empowers clients to rewrite their stories, uncovering resilience and reclaiming their identities. By integrating these models, I can tailor the therapeutic process to each individual, blending self-discovery, skill-building, and empowerment to support lasting transformation. The integration of these models can effectively address:

  • Emotional Dysregulation: Difficulty managing intense emotions or frequent emotional outbursts.
  • Trauma and PTSD: Healing from past trauma, including childhood wounds and relational trauma.
  • Spiritual Trauma: Navigating and recovering from religious or spiritual harm.
  • Complicated Grief: Processing profound loss and finding a way forward.
  • Shame and Self-Criticism: Reducing internalized shame and fostering self-compassion.
  • Relationship Issues: Improving communication, setting boundaries, and building healthier connections.
  • Addiction and Recovery: Supporting sustainable recovery from substance use and related behaviors.
  • Anxiety and Stress: Managing overwhelming worry, stress, and fear.
  • Depression: Addressing feelings of hopelessness, low energy, and lack of motivation.
  • Identity and Self-Esteem Issues: Rediscovering a sense of self and increasing self-worth.
  • Life Transitions: Coping with changes like career shifts, divorce, or loss of community.
  • Decision Paralysis: Overcoming indecision and building confidence in making choices.
  • Family and Systemic Conflict: Resolving patterns of dysfunction within families or social systems.
  • Chronic Self-Sabotage: Identifying and transforming patterns that undermine personal goals.
